Re-circulating Ball Steering: These are mainly used on some SUVs and trucks. There is a connection between end of the steering rod and threaded rod that is fitted into a threaded block of metal that rotates on turning the Steering Wheel. This metal block with threads transfers this rotation to pitman arm to tie rods and track rods which in turn rotates the wheels. There are ball bearings present between the teeth of the block that re-circulates through the gear when it turns.
My last post I wrote I gave you a quick fix using a solvent based dye. Now I'm not saying that if you were in a pinch that using a solvent based would be a bad thing, but like I said it's a quick fix, nothing you would really want to do for a customer that's expecting a long lasting repair. The basic's are the same as far as the use of a drop cloth to avoid over spray getting on the instrument panel, and the prepping is kinda the same too. But what I'm here to do is to show the right way to do this.
I had to find out on my own by calling many handicapped places until I found the place that could help me. When I finally took my car in for this work I found out the car dealer paid the whole tab except for $100.00.If the car dealer would have been educated to their programs offered by their company I would have been a satisfied customer. What we have in place now on our cars is Power Assist steering and even though the tag on the window reads power steering it is not. If you are old enough to remember when there was power steering in cars you will definitely recognize the difference as soon as you turn the steering wheel.
Since the Mini was introduced, owners have been customizing their special car. The fastest way to change the look of the interior is to stylize the steering wheel. These Mini cars are often painted in bright colors. A Wheelskins EuroTone, 2 color, steering wheel cover is the perfect way to complement the Mini color designs. Installing a Wheelskins wheel cover is also the most inexpensive and effective way to give your interior that sporty, race inspired look.
If I had no received a steering wheel as a present I would have probably still been using my good old joysticks and gamepads. But OK, I thought, let's give it a try for a week and just stick with it even if it is unpleasant in the beginning. And what a week of negative experience that was - I almost ended up hating racing games back then. There almost was not a corner where I would not spin or go off. Especially when it came down to braking with my feet there was total lack of control on my part. One may think real driving experience helps - complete nonsense, even in more realistic racing games. At least for me.
Make sure that before you start on your task of removing your old steering wheel, you should have a screwdriver, a pair of pliers, and a puller. You will be needing these.Start by pointing your car's wheels straight ahead. Then disconnect the battery before you remove the old wheel. Then, remove the horn mechanism by pressing down on the horn cap and then turn. After that, remove the emblem cap from its snapped-in position. You do this by grabbing it and then pulling it towards you. If there are screws attaching it to the vehicle, use your screwdriver.
