Honest, Youth-original Arts
Unchained Talent presents 2-3 theatrical, music and dance performances each year for an audience of peers, school, families and the surrounding community. Unchained Talent students collectively brainstorm a community-relevant theme and each discipline works to build its portion of the show. The theatre students’ thought-provoking scenes, the dance students’ stirring dances and the music students’ original hard-hitting songs form a singular show that is focused on and brings to light the many sides of the theme of the show.Unchained Talent currently offers the following artistic disciplines:
- Theatre: creation and performance of student-written theatre productions, as well as repertory theatre performances
- Recording Studio Arts: composition and production of student-original music in the Unchained Talent recording studio
- Dance: training in a variety of dance styles and choreography techniques to create student-written original dance works
- Plays - such as Concrete Jungle, You Think You Know Me But You Really Don't and Who Will Heal Our Community?
- Music - Hip/hop rhymes, r&b ballads, guitar songs, piano compositions and inspirational songs
- Dances - Hip/hop, lyrical and step
- Poetry - to express their true feelings which sometimes cannot be otherwise expressed
- Visual Art - in set design, show posters, japanese-inspired anime and in murals
Future program offerings:
- Modeling - some students really enjoy fashion and modeling, so we'd like to offer a modeling program someday soon
- Film - a lot of youth are more familiar with the artistic devices of film and we hope to combine these skills with the facilities we already have through our studio to offer another outlet for their creativity and voice
