Academic Engagement
Youth are expected to maintain passing grades to participate in Unchained Talent. If they are putting in a sincere effort but still struggle with meeting that expectation, Unchained Talent has several supports in place to assist them in reaching that goal.
- Homework assistance - peer and mentor assistance with assignments and challenging material
- Facilitated conversations with teachers to learn what behavior is blocking progress or what assignments are missing
- Specialized trainings on the "tricks" to passing (which are similar to the expectations of students during our program) such as 1. attendance, 2. willingness to try/participation, 3. taking care of business/organization, and only then actually being capable of learning the material/talent
- Conduct sheets checking on the behavior and quality of work for that student in each class that day, which becomes required for entrance to Unchained Talent
