About Unchained Talent

You are playing for your own entertainment and to benefit Unchained Talent, the student-driven, performing arts and mentoring program!  Unchained Talent is a nonprofit organization working to bring the performing arts back to the young people in under-resourced Baltimore City schools and communities.  Unchained Talent is a place where young people's voices are heard, giving young people the opportunity to learn life skills as well as to create original music, dance and theatre works in a safe and supportive environment with caring and consistent adult mentors.

 

Details:

Race Start (and End) Location:  The Austin Grill, 2400 Boston Street in Canton

Registration: 2 p.m.  Race Begins: 3 p.m.

 

Happy Hour Specials for participants all night!  ½ price House Margaritas, $2 Coronas, $2 Corona Lites, $2 Negro Modelo, $2 Cerveza Pacifio; ½ price on selected appetizers  (Must be  wearing your name tag to ID you as a Mobtown Madness participant to get happy hour prices)

 

The Race:

The challenge is simple: solve each clue to find the next destination and the next clue, until you come full circle back to the starting location.  The team completing the course in the shortest time wins.

 

To begin your whole team must be present and have completed waivers.

To win be the team with the shortest race time (including penalties, minus bonuses) you must return with all envelopes and clues

Plan on bringing:

-Phone book

-Baltimore City map (route is limited to the city)

-Maryland/Baltimore trivia guide (unless one of your teammates is a MD/Balto trivia guide)

-Cell phone (maybe have a life line available if you get stuck)

-you are allowed to bring or use any resource you want

The Ground Rules:

  1. Be safe! 
  2. All destinations are inside the Baltimore City limits.
  3. Save each clue and envelope to bring back with you for verification.
  4. You may use any resources you wish to solve the clues.
  5. Travel with decorum and be respectful of destinations and their workers/visitors/owners, etc (subtlety = less likely clues will be messed with)
  6. No stealing of clues or hiding the clue envelopes to thwart the other teams!  Interfering with the clue folders will result in disqualification.
  7. If you think there is a problem with the course, please call us on our cell phones.  There is no penalty for reporting (potential) course issues (e.g. missing envelopes/clues, mistakes in the clues, safety concerns).
  8. If you are stumped on a clue, you may call us for a Hint.  However, Hints will cost you a penalty that will be added to your final course time.  On any given Clue, the first Hint will cost 10 minutes, the second 20 minutes, and the third 40 minutes.  You will have one opportunity on the course to earn 15 minutes OFF your time!

 

Note: if the first clue takes more than 30 mins to solve, please call-you must pick it up by 4 p.m.!!
